The Post-Secondary Education Program assists eligible Munsee-Delaware Nation members in their pursuit of higher education. Through financial assistance, academic counselling, and ongoing support, the program helps students achieve their educational goals and build stronger futures for themselves, their families, and the Nation.

Mission
To assist eligible MDN member lifelong learners in their pursuit of higher educational opportunities. We strive to enrich the experience of the learner by supporting and advocating while they are on their academic path to self-empowerment.
OUR APPROACH
Goals & Objectives
Goal
To continually increase the number of student graduates, while maximizing the limited funds in accordance with funding guidelines, to enrich oneself, their family, and the Nation.
Objectives
Improve communication through student contracts, social media, and counselling. Develop learner skillsets through workshops and institutional supports. Strengthen partnerships with post-secondary institutions to advocate for learners and community resources.
Improve Communication:
- Increase communication to and from students through student service contracts, social media, and counselling sessions
- Strengthen communications with staff and outside educational institutions through information sessions, annual open-house, and other outreach activities
Develop Learner Skillsets:
- Be responsive to learner needs by establishing rapport through a minimum of twice per semester counselling sessions
- Encourage students to access educational institution supports that increase their skillset
- Locate and develop workshops for students to attain the necessary skills to be successful in their education
Strengthen Partnerships:
- Develop partnerships with Post-Secondary Institutions to advocate for learners and advise on initiatives, research, community resources, academic programming, and oversight of services

Regular support to ensure student well-being and address any challenges.
Financial Assistance
Support for tuition, fees, books, and living expenses to help you focus on your education.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Who Can Apply
To be eligible to apply for financial assistance under the Munsee Delaware Nation Student Assistance Policy, applicants:
- Must provide proof of being registered members of Munsee Delaware Nation (valid Status Card or official letter from Membership)
- Must possess a grade 12 (secondary school) graduation diploma or its equivalent and have met university or college entry requirements
- GED, ACE, and CEGEP certificates from recognized educational institutions are considered equivalent to a secondary school diploma for the purposes of this program
- Must reapply for funding every year/term, before the established deadlines:
May 1st
Fall Term
October 1st
Winter Term
March 1st
Summer Term
HOW TO APPLY
Application Process
Important Note: Munsee-Delaware Nation does not accept paper applications for Post-Secondary Student Assistance. All applications must be submitted online through the Outcomes Student Information System.
New Students
Students who have never applied for funding through the Southern First Nations Secretariat and/or do not have any records in the Outcomes Student Information System can apply for funding by clicking the “Start Application” button.
Continuing Students
Returning students can apply for a new funding year by logging into the Outcomes Student Information System portal, using their username and password. To get started, click “Login”.
Application Instructions
- Complete all required fields on the online application form
- Submit the online funding application by clicking the “Submit Application” button
Once your information has been reviewed by the Post-Secondary Department, you will be able to sign into the Outcomes Student Information System to upload required documents.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
What You Need to Submit
Once your application has been approved, you will receive a Conditional Approval letter, detailing the required documents you must upload to the Outcomes Student Information System. To complete your funding application, you will need to provide:
1. Proof of High School Graduation
OSSD/GED/ACE/CEGEP certificate or official transcript
Note: High school students may apply for funding, but must provide a copy of graduation credentials to receive funding
2. Verification of Enrolment
Official document from your institution which includes your name, program name, term, and student ID #
3. Verification of MDN Membership
Photo of the front and back of status card, or an official letter from MDN Membership confirming student’s status card number
4. Banking Information
Direct deposit form or VOID cheque from Canadian banking institutions only
5. Signed MDN Post-Secondary Forms

What Happens Next
After You Apply
Once your application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the Post-Secondary Department. A decision will be communicated within 30 days of the application deadline established for each term.
Example: If you are applying for funding for a program starting in September, your application deadline is May 1st. The Post-Secondary Department will review your application for funding and communicate the decision to you via email by May 31st.
